Happy Monday!
Each Monday I would like to take some time to get to know some of our favorite authors. My hope is that this will help readers connect with the authors.
Today I would like to introduce you to: Morgan L. Busse!
I was drawn to Morgan’s books because they are so incredibly unique! Each one of her books that I have read have been incredible! I would highly recommend them!
Author bio:
Morgan L. Busse is a writer by day and a mother by night. She is the author of the Follower of the Word series, The Soul Chronicles, and The Ravenwood Saga. She is a three-time Christy Award finalist and winner of both the INSPY and the Carol Award for best in Christian speculative fiction. During her spare time she enjoys playing games, taking long walks, and dreaming about her next novel. Visit her online at www.morganlbusse.com.
To help us get to know her, I have given her some questions and here are her responses:
Q: How long have you been writing?
A: I’ve been writing since 2004. So almost 20 years! I started writing shortly after my daughter was born as an outlet for my creativity.
Q: What are you currently working on?
A: I just finished the second book in the Skyworld series (the title is a secret for now). And since it is a dualogy, this series is finished. However, I’m always jotting down ideas for my next writing projects and currently have four I will be presenting to my agent. For now, I’m enjoying a well earned break.
Q: What are some of your writing must haves? (Drink, snack, supplies, etc.)
A: I have a routine each morning that I have to go through to get into the writing zone. A hot cup of tea, instrumental music (the music depends on the genre), and prayer. I pray over each book, that God will help me to write my best, and for the person who needs this book. Then I start writing.
Q: What is your favorite time period to write about? Or read about?
A: I love history. All of history! So I’m not sure I could choose just one. I’m always curious about how people lived, what they wore, what they ate, what was important to them, what did their houses look like, etc… I use this information in my own books so I can create realistic worlds, one where the reader feels familiar enough with the world that they can sink in and enjoy the more fantastical aspects. But if I really, really had to choose, it would be Victorian era (probably why I write steampunk).
Q: What are some of your favorite books?
A: There are only a few books I will read over and over again. Those are Lord of the Rings, Anne of Green Gables series, Timothy Zahn’s Star Wars books, and Chronicles of Narnia.
Q: If you could spend a day with one fictional character, who would you pick and what would you do?
A: The hobbits from J.R.R. Tolkien’s world. I would want to sit in their gardens, have tea in their hobbit holes, eat dinner at dusk, and read books by candlelight.
I have saved my favorite question for last!
Q: What would you like readers to take away from your books?
A: I tend to write books with darker, edgier themes because real life is hard and I don’t want to sugar coat it in my books. But I also show hope. That there is purpose for pain, and good really does win in the end. So the biggest thing I want readers to take away is hope. No matter how hard life gets, there is something worth living for, worth fighting for.

I’m also featuring her newest release, Secrets in the Mist! It releases tomorrow! You don’t want to miss this one! Be sure to add it to your Goodreads shelf here.
About the book:
What’s lurking in the Mist is the least of their worries…
In a world where humanity lives in the sky to escape a deadly mist below, Cass’s only goal is survival. That is, until she finds a job on the airship Daedalus as a diver. Now she explores ruined cities, looking for treasure and people’s lost heirlooms until a young man hires her to find the impossible: a way to eradicate the Mist.
Theodore Winchester is a member of one of the Five Families that rule the skies. Following in his father’s footsteps, he searches for the source of the Mist and hopes to stop the purges used to control overpopulation. But what he finds are horrifying secrets and lethal ambition. If he continues his quest, it could mean his own death.
The Mist is rising and soon the world will be enveloped in its deadly embrace, turning what’s left of humanity into the undead.
Morgan Busse is an extraordinary author!
